Travelling Again!

Believe it or not, but I’ve never flown to Germany, well not until today. I’m enroute to Dubai, since there isn’t a direct flight from Toronto to Dubai I’ve opted to connect in Frankfurt. The name rings familiar to me, it seems that almost every single one of my family members has flown with Lufthansa and ended up there at one time or another. I on the other hand have never flown with Lufthansa so I was excited to try them out and visit the famous “Senator Lounge” at Frankfurt.

The approach into Frankfurt was quite amazing. With the sunrise the contrails from the departing jets made for a spectacular view. The surprise though was 200 feet above the ground when we broke out of the low layer of clouds. At one point I couldn’t see the wingtip only 88 feet away. We taxied into the terminal and I made a beeline to the lounge.

All I can say is that I am not sure when I’ve been more disappointed. First of all, it’s no fancy lounge and second there are too many people in there making it seem crammed!! The selection of food and drinks sucked to say the least and to top it off there wasn’t a complimentary internet connection. After 2 hours sitting there listing to an Egyptian dude talking to his friend I decided to find a different place to rest. Lo and behold the Business Class lounge is bigger, brighter and less crammed. But the internet still costs 8 Euro an hour.

Next time I’ll connect in Heathrow or Switzerland, but at least I got this awesome picture!
